    Indian Rocks Beach is a small "hidden treasure" town of about 4,000 full-time and part-time residents, located on a Gulf of Mexico coastal barrier island, off the West Coast of central Florida, in Pinellas County at Gulf Blvd. Fish Mile-Markers #16-18. A quiet and quaint, pet-friendly, and vacation-friendly community which tends to be quieter and less crowded than its neighboring beach towns, yet has just as many advantages. Indian Rocks Beach has peaceful, white sand beaches; perfect for walking, jogging, swimming, sunning, shelling, surfing and snorkeling. In addition to the beautiful beach, there are several city parksexcellent restaurants, live entertainment venues, and a variety of shopping and water-sport activity choices in town. Visitors will find that accommodation choices are abundant and include: small vacation cottages, motel/hotel rentals, timshare rentals and luxury vacation rental homes and condo's. Indian Rocks Beach is also conveniently located just 40 minutes from the Tampa International Airport (TPA), and 25 minutes from St. Petersburg International Airport (PIE). A 40 minute drive will get you to Tampa's Busch Gardens, a 90 minute drive will take you to Orlando Theme Parks, and in a couple of hours you can drive to the Kennedy Center on the Space Coast. Come for a visit and just relax on the beach or see the local sites, plan day trips or overnight trips, and enjoy all that IRB has to offer as your Florida vacation, or holiday home base...

    If you're coming for a relaxing, laid-back vacation or holiday, there's no need to rent a car. Shuttles, taxis, and limousine service are all readily available to transport you from the airport to Indian Rocks Beach. Once you arrive on the island; public parks, restaurants, pubs, shops and live entertainment are all accessible via the Beach Trolley line, bicycle, or are just a short walk up & down Gulf Blvd. The Beach Trolley runs from Clearwater Beach (north) to Passe-A-Grill Beach (south) and stops in all of the nearby barrier island beach towns (except Belleair Beach).

     

    If you plan to venture beyond the barrier islands to explore theme parks or other Florida cities and attractions, then we recommend you rent a car. Want to spend some time on the water? Local businesses offer power boat, personal watercraft, and kayak rentals. Bicycle and scooter rentals are also available.     In addition to our beautiful beach and public parks, the city of IRB has wonderful shops, dining establishments, and live entertainment! If you enjoy art, then the Beach Art Center will appeal to your senses. If you enjoy history, then the Indian Rocks Beach Historical Museum, is a must-see! The City also holds regular festivals at various times of the year which include Beauty & The Beach, Oktoberfest, Biggest Beach Party Ever and Taste of IRB. Twice per year, residents from all around the city participate in a city-wide garage sale (usually the weekend after Thanksgiving and Easter). Be sure to check out our City Events Schedule (below), to see what's happening during your scheduled visit...     Not traveling during a city event? No worries... There are plenty of recreational activities available to meet everybody's individual interests, budgets, and travel dates. Play In The Sand & Enjoy The Surf

Indian Rocks Beach is known as "The Worls Safest Beach", and is the perfect place to enjoy all of the sun, surf, and tranquility that the Gulf of Mexico has to offer. The main public beach access is located between 17th & 18th Ave. on the west side of Gulf Blvd., and offers 80 metered parking spaces, restrooms, outdoor showers, drinking fountains, and bike racks for visitors. There are twenty-six additional public beach accesses located throughout the city; most equipped with showers and a few with specially designed handicap/wheelchair ramps. Trash receptacles are readily available at each access, and are serviced regularly; assuring that the beach remains clean and pristine. Then, pack your pails, coolers, umbrellas, beach towels, and sunscreen and head out to the beach for the day and enjoy Indian Rocks Beach... the warm blue waters in IRB are second to none.

jetskiing_fpRent a power boat and dock at one of the local eateries (for lunch on their outdoor decks). Make an attempt at water skiing, knee boarding, and/or tubing. Rent a personal watercraft and explore the intercoastal waterway, or pack your picnic basket and your cooler and dock on one of the small spoil islands for a picnic in the sun. Rent a kayak or canoe and spend the day rowing or fishing. With the many miles of waterways that surround Indiian Rocks Beach, the possibilities for fun on the water and in the sun are endless. 


Free Nature Activities & City Parks are abundant...

naturepreservesignThe City of IRB is home to (11) eleven lovely parks, including the wonderful Indian Rocks Beach Nature Preserve, where you can stroll through the marsh-lands and mangrove trees, and view local species via an elevated boardwalk. Once you get settled-in, you can catch the Beach Trolley and head south to the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary where you will enjoy close encounters with all types of seabirds and water fowl (admission is free but donations are always appreciated).


Rent a bicycle and ride the Pinellas Trail...

bicyclesRent a bicycle, rollerblades, or bring your skateboard and spend a day exploring the 34-mile stretch of the beautiful Pinellas Trail. The Trail is a great way to spend the day exploring nearby Pinellas County-mainland towns and attractions. The PSTA Beach Trolley offers a Bikes-on-Busses Program, which is a convenient mode of transportation to/from the Trail. The trail is also pet-friendly and provides a pleasurable walking experience, for both owners and their pets. The Trail is free to the public so it is a budget-friendly, healthy activity, that the whole family can enjoy!
